i just had this proceedure done. it was nothing to it. when they deaden the
area before they started, i didnt really feel it. the most uncomfortable
part was lying on the laying on the table, the rest is nothing. i think the
proceedure it self was probly all about 15-20 minutes. what tkes so long is
getting ready for it. i was told to take tylenol for pain and i had it done
aroun 945 this am and i was on my way home by 10:30. its nothing trust me
its looks scary but it not that bad at all
I had this procedure done today, and it was not bad at all. I’m so glad I
didn’t watch this video first though because the needle is pretty big, and
that would have freaked me out. I had it done at 9:00 a.m. and it is now
5:00 p.m. I am not having much pain at all, I have not needed Tylenol, just
the ice pack once every couple of hours. Now I have to wait for the
results, about 2 days. Wish me luck!
Just a follow up. It did not hurt ONE bit. Honest.
This is seriously not bad. I had it done this morning.
Just had mine done this morning, and I had myself totally freaked out. I
probably should have watched first as I made up all sorts of stuff in my
mind. The xylocane was like a tiny bee sting, if that, and the whole
procedure hardly hurt at all - I’m sore now, & will keep an ice pack on for
24 hours. The worst part was the stiff neck from laying on the table. I
imagined I was laying on a nice, warm beach! Good luck everyone! I hope
we’re all fine!
Glad I found this. I’m scheduled for this procedure this coming week. It
was all explained to me in the doctors office at my initial consultation
but seeing it is even better. I don’t like surprises and this has eased my
mind as to what to expect.
having it done on tuesday lord help me
@arnold02000 thank u i had done today it wasnt bad at all
@arnold02000 I’m glad to hear that.
@arnold02000 It did I had to progress further and get a wire-guided
biopsy and was diagnosed with Atypical Lobular Hyperplasia. I’m on
Tamoxifen for five years. Out of everything done to me, NOTHING was
unbearable.
I will just add to the comments below. I had this procedure yesterday as
well and the most uncomfortable part of the experience was having to lay so
still for so long. I’m also very claustrophobic, so I had a bit of extra
anxiety being secured down in this position. Your neck will likely be sore
from laying in a certain position for so long, but it’s bearable. Good luck
if you’re having this done.
thanks for this video, on friday would be my exam hope will be ok
i didnt for me its more of a quick pop but u dont feel at all my dr numb me
real good but they do take alot of pics
I just had this done and was not numb AT ALL! It was the worst pain ever!!!
I am not trying to scare any one but I would just make sure that your Dr.
numbs the area. The nurse kept telling the Dr that I could feel it but it
was like he didn’t care. He just kept on. I have been diagnosed with
Atypical Hyperplasia and am seeing a surgeon on Thursday. I hope the
wire-guided biopsy isn’t as painful! (fingers crossed)
I am going tomorrow im really scared but as long as the needle numbs my
pain i should be ok
What exactly is a “stereotactic” biopsy?
This video is very good at answering that question.
Stereotactic biopsy procedure - performed by radiologist for breast cancer
Stereotactic Biopsy for breast cancer, performed by a radiologist.
Stereotactic Biopsy for breast cancer, performed by a radiologist
quite interesting test which may be lifesaving, seems like a very important
test to have just to make sure if the person has cancer. thanks for sharing.
Had this done today. calcification close to the nipple. 2 incisions in 2
different areas. Felt like a cow on that table. long procedure. did not
like it. had to do it.
Why are some done on the back and others sitting down?A friend was told it
would take five minutes, another told hers would be half an hour.
Not that I know of. The biggest after-effect I had was blisters from the
tape they use to hold down the dressing. Other than that I was fine.
Whew. Glad you’re ok, Barb. Yeah, that’s why I specifically requested “no
epinephrine” in the numbing medicine. I do the same at the dentist.
Yeah, I think it would be quite rare to have pain that long afterwards
unless something else was causing it. Honestly, the actual pain involved is
minimal. It’s just a little weird, this procedure, and yes it can be
uncomfortable to lie on your stomach perfectly still all that time, but
there is not a lot of pain from the actual procedure. As soon as the needle
is guided in, it shoots additional numbing medicine into the tissue so it
doesn’t hurt more than a little sting or a pinch.
